Pickwick Coffee Club
LONDON, UK - A redeye from Detroit to London means there is only one option upon arrival: caffeine. Whether you’re a coffee-loyalist or prefer a steamy cup of tea to start your day, Pickwick Coffee Club is the way to go. There I was, wandering the streets of London in the early hours of the morning, running on about 2 hours of (airplane) sleep, waiting for an afternoon check-in to my BnB. I actually had another coffee shop plugged into my GPS, but by a great stroke of fortune, I found myself dragging my suitcase right across Pickwick’s front door. It was wayyy too inviting to skip, so I closed the GPS and headed inside.
As I understand it, Pickwick Coffee Club opened in 2021 and already has two locations. In this spot, white-washed brick comes through soft blue walls. The cushioned, cozy chairs are what had particularly enticed me, but amongst visitors were friends meeting to catch up, a couple different work-from-home folks taking an online meeting, and a family of travelers with adorable little ones practicing their English. The baristas were absolutely friendly, something that always puts a shop high on my rating list. I wasn’t quite ready for a coffee, so decided that starting with an Earl Grey was a proper start to an English trip anyways. Mmm… delicious decision. Next time, I’ll give the coffee a go, but based on my experience, I’d go out on a limb and recommend this place to any traveler; be it for coffee, tea, or crumpet.
